A Quiet Place Cast: Actors, Characters and Crew

The billed cast of A Quiet Place (2018), directed by John Krasinski, is led by Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott, John Krasinski as Lee Abbott, Millicent Simmonds as Regan Abbott, Noah Jupe as Marcus Abbott and Cade Woodward as Beau Abbott. Leon Russom plays the Man in the Woods, and Rhoda Pell appears uncredited as the Old Man's Dead Wife. It is a small ensemble by horror standards, which suits a film about a family on an isolated New York farm who talk in American Sign Language. Beau is the youngest son, and his death after he switches on a noisy toy is what leaves the rest of the family grieving.

A Quiet Place Part II (2021), also directed by Krasinski, keeps Blunt, Krasinski, Simmonds and Jupe in the top four billing spots. The newcomer in fifth place is Cillian Murphy as Emmett, a neighbor who lost his own family and whom the Abbotts meet when they shelter in an old steel foundry. Djimon Hounsou plays the Man on Island, Okieriete Onaodowan is the Police Officer and Scoot McNairy is the Marina Man. Because the film opens on the first day of the invasion at a small town baseball game, the wider cast also includes Zachary Golinger as Emmett's Son, Blake DeLong as the Umpire and Silas Pereira-Olson as the Boy on Island.

A Quiet Place: Day One (2024), directed by Michael Sarnoski, is a fresh ensemble set in Manhattan. Lupita Nyong'o plays Samira, known as Sam, a terminally ill cancer patient living in a hospice outside New York City. Joseph Quinn plays Eric, Alex Wolff plays Reuben, the nurse who talks Sam into a trip to see a marionette show, and Djimon Hounsou returns to the franchise as Henri. Eliane Umuhire is Zena, Takunda Khumalo is Osahar and Alfie Todd is Max. Sam's service cat, Frodo, was played by two cats, according to a Variety piece syndicated on Yahoo.

John Krasinski directed both main films, and Michael Sarnoski directed the spin-off prequel A Quiet Place: Day One (2024). Krasinski also stars as Lee Abbott in the 2018 film, so he was behind the camera and in front of it for the same family story. The Numbers lists him as both writer and director of A Quiet Place Part II. For Part III, Variety Australia reported on August 2, 2025 that Krasinski would write, direct and produce, that Paramount would release the film, and that it is produced by Sunday Night Productions and Platinum Dunes. Allyson Seeger is also reported as a producer.

The music stays steady across the main films: Marco Beltrami scored both A Quiet Place (2018) and Part II, while Alexis Grapsas composed Day One. On camera, Charlotte Bruus Christensen shot the 2018 film on 35mm, and Pat Scola, who also shot Pig, shot Day One with Alexa cameras and Panavision lenses. Industrial Light & Magic handled the creature work on both the 2018 film and Day One, which gives the saga a consistent look for its monsters even as the directors change.

The change from Krasinski to Sarnoski also changes the setting. Day One follows a group of strangers through a crowded Manhattan, built largely on sets at Leavesden with Chinatown redressed as Harlem, according to Post Magazine. The reported cast of a quiet place part iii brings back Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott, Cillian Murphy as Emmett, Millicent Simmonds as Regan Abbott and Noah Jupe as Marcus Abbott, with Jack O'Connell, Jason Clarke and Katy O'Brian joining. Deadline, via Yahoo News Canada, reported this on May 10, 2026, and the characters for O'Connell, Clarke and O'Brian have not been reported. Principal photography was reported to have begun in May 2026 in New York City's Chinatown, as announced by Krasinski on Instagram. TheWrap quotes Krasinski giving the release date as July 30, 2027. Variety Australia had originally reported July 9, 2027, and Deadline, via Yahoo News Canada, reported the move to July 30. Variety Australia also reports that Krasinski is writing, directing and producing.

In my opinion, the most interesting piece of this lineup is Murphy staying on. Emmett arrived in Part II as a neighbor who changed what the Abbotts could rely on, so it could be argued that his return signals Part III will keep widening the survivor network instead of shrinking back to one farm. That is a reading of the casting, not a reported plot point, and no plot has been officially released.

Across the three films released so far, continuity runs through the Abbott family. Blunt, Krasinski, Simmonds and Jupe appear in both A Quiet Place (2018) and Part II, and Hounsou is the one performer who crosses into Day One, playing the Man on Island in Part II and Henri in Day One. Day One has no other overlap with the main cast. Perhaps that is the quiet advantage of a spin-off prequel: new actors can start the story over without anyone comparing them to the Abbotts.
