Gisele Yashar Fast and Furious: Gal Gadot's Character Explained

Gisele Yashar is a recurring Fast and Furious character, played by Gal Gadot, who first appears in Fast & Furious (2009).

Justin Lin directed that film, and Gadot is billed seventh in the cast. She returns in Fast Five (2011) and Fast & Furious 6 (2013), both also directed by Lin, and the character turns up again in Fast X (2023), directed by Louis Leterrier. She belongs to the wider group around Dominic Toretto, and she shares the screen with Han Lue, played by Sung Kang. If you are new to the saga, the fast and furious characters page shows how everyone connects, and the fast and furious movies in order page lists the films in the order they are best watched.

Gisele Yashar's arc runs across four films: she is in the cast of Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6, is lost saving Han Lue in Fast & Furious 6 and is revealed alive in Fast X.

In Fast & Furious (2009), Dominic Toretto returns to Los Angeles to find out who killed Letty Ortiz, and Gisele is billed seventh, with Han Lue billed eleventh. Fast Five (2011) follows, in which Dominic Toretto assembles a crew of old friends for the Rio vault job, and Gadot is billed eighth in that ensemble.

The story picks up weight in Fast & Furious 6 (2013). Luke Hobbs asks Dominic Toretto's team to help catch Owen Shaw, offering pardons so the crew can go home, and the team reassembles in London. The finale takes place on an airfield, where the crew tethers a huge cargo plane to their vehicles to stop it from taking off. The plane crashes, and Gisele is lost saving Han.

A mid credits scene then shows Han in Tokyo, caught in a chase and hit by a car, which sets up the next film. In Fast X (2023), the story returns to her in the closing scene: in Antarctica, Gisele Yashar, thought dead, emerges from a submarine and rescues Letty Ortiz and Cipher.

Han Lue is Gisele Yashar's closest on screen connection, and the films place the two of them side by side more than once. Both characters are in the cast of Fast & Furious (2009), where Sung Kang is billed eleventh, and both are in Fast Five (2011) and Fast & Furious 6 (2013). For Han's own history, see the han lue fast and furious page.

Her other main tie is to Dominic Toretto and the crew he leads. The dominic toretto fast and furious page covers the family she fights beside in the later films.

Who is Han Lue's wife? Han Lue has no wife in the films we cover, and the character most closely tied to him on screen is Gisele Yashar.

Yes, Gisele Yashar appears to die saving Han Lue in Fast & Furious 6 (2013), but she is revealed alive in the final scene of Fast X (2023).

What happened with Han and Gisele? In the Fast & Furious 6 finale, the cargo plane crashes while the team is trying to stop it, and Gisele is lost saving Han. Han is later shown in Tokyo in a mid credits scene, and in Furious 7 (2015) Deckard Shaw kills him there. In F9 (2021) Han turns out to be alive, with Deckard Shaw having helped fake his death.

Does Han know Gisele is alive? No. No film so far shows Han learning that. In Fast X, Gisele rescues Letty Ortiz and Cipher in Antarctica, while Han is on a plane that Dante Reyes shoots down, and the film ends before either outcome is resolved.

Will Gisele and Han get back together? Not confirmed. The next film, Fast Forever, is dated March 17, 2028 by Universal (TheWrap), and no source we use confirms Gisele's role in it.

The best Gisele Yashar moment is the Fast & Furious 6 (2013) runway finale, with her Fast X (2023) reveal a close second. In my opinion, that order holds up for two reasons.

The runway first. The crew ties a huge cargo plane to their vehicles to keep it on the ground, which is the kind of set piece the saga does better than almost anyone, because every step is easy to follow: tether, brake, crash. Gisele being lost saving Han Lue lands inside that sequence, so the emotional beat arrives right when the mechanics are at their loudest.

Then the reveal. Gisele stepping out of a submarine in Antarctica to rescue Letty Ortiz and Cipher works as a final scene because it answers a question the franchise had left open for 10 years (2013 to 2023), and, in my opinion, it is the neatest retcon style surprise of the Dominic Toretto era. The catch is that it also raises the Han question, so the payoff depends on how Fast Forever handles it.
