Fast and Furious Cast: Actors, Directors and Returning Stars

Vin Diesel plays Dominic Toretto, Paul Walker played Brian O'Conner, Michelle Rodriguez plays Letty Ortiz, Jordana Brewster plays Mia Toretto, Tyrese Gibson plays Roman Pearce, Ludacris plays Tej Parker and Sung Kang plays Han Lue, with Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Gal Gadot, Nathalie Emmanuel, Charlize Theron and John Cena in later films. The table shows each actor, the character and every film where they are billed, with release years. It covers the 10 main films and the spin-off Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

Vin Diesel is billed in eight of the 11 films, more than any other actor, and is first billed in each film from Fast & Furious (2009) onward except Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, where he is not billed. Paul Walker held the top billing in The Fast and the Furious (2001) and 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), Dwayne Johnson is first billed in Hobbs & Shaw, and Lucas Black leads The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. If you want the people behind each role, the Fast and Furious characters page covers every main character, including Dominic Toretto and Letty Ortiz.

The supporting bench is deep. Kurt Russell plays Mr. Nobody in Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious and F9, Helen Mirren plays Queenie Shaw in Hobbs & Shaw and F9 and is billed again in Fast X, and Luke Evans plays Owen Shaw in Fast & Furious 6 and The Fate of the Furious. Idris Elba (Brixton) and Vanessa Kirby (Hattie Shaw) headline the spin-off alongside Johnson and Statham, and Fast X adds Jason Momoa as Dante, with Brie Larson, Alan Ritchson and Daniela Melchior in the billed cast.

Ludacris, Don Omar and Tego Calderón are the cast members credited on a franchise song list, with Ludacris on Rest of My Life and Don Omar and Tego Calderón on Bandoleros, both from the Fast & Furious 6 soundtrack. Ludacris plays Tej Parker in seven billed films. Ja Rule is credited as Edwin in the first film, and Shad Moss plays Twinkie in Tokyo Drift.

Seven directors have made the Fast and Furious films: Rob Cohen, John Singleton, Justin Lin, James Wan, F. Gary Gray, David Leitch and Louis Leterrier. Justin Lin is the clear leader, with five of the 11 films, and every other director has one.

Lin took over for Tokyo Drift and stayed through Fast & Furious 6, so the Rio heist of Fast Five and the London chase of Fast & Furious 6 share a director with the earlier street racing entries. He returned for F9 (2021) after skipping Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious (TheWrap). Wan handled Furious 7, Gray took The Fate of the Furious, and Leitch directed the spin-off Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Vin Diesel also directed the 20 minute short Los Bandoleros, which sets up the opening of Fast & Furious (2009).

The next film is Fast Forever. Universal has not named a director for Fast Forever, which is dated for March 17, 2028 (TheWrap).

Almost every main Fast and Furious actor returns from film to film, and the only recast is Jakob Toretto in F9, played by John Cena as an adult and Finn Cole as Young Jakob. Vin Diesel is billed in eight films, while Rodriguez, Brewster, Gibson and Ludacris are each billed in seven, which is what lets the saga feel like one ensemble rather than a string of reboots.

The most interesting movement is Jason Statham. He arrives as Deckard Shaw, the antagonist of Furious 7, returns in The Fate of the Furious, takes a lead role in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, billed second behind Dwayne Johnson, and is billed as Shaw again in Fast X.

Some returns were announced loudly. Han Lue, played by Sung Kang, appears in 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2021 and 2023, and is not billed in Furious 7 or The Fate of the Furious. His return was shown in the first F9 trailer, according to TheWrap, which also noted Justin Lin coming back after skipping films 7 and 8. Lucas Black, the lead of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift as Sean Boswell, is billed again in Furious 7.

Gal Gadot's Gisele Yashar is billed in three films, Fast & Furious, Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6, and Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner is billed in six, the last being Furious 7. For the full run of release dates, the Fast and Furious movies in order page shows where each cast change lands, and the Fast and Furious movies hub lists every film. No cast has been officially confirmed for Fast Forever.
