Ice Age: Boiling Point: Release Date, Cast and Status

Ice Age: Boiling Point is coming, and Disney has dated it for US theaters on February 5, 2027. The studio announced the title at Destination D23 on August 30, 2025, according to TheWrap, and production is reported to have begun in November 2024. No trade outlet has reported that the film has finished production, so it is best described as announced and still in production.

Is it the newest Ice Age movie? Not yet. The most recent release is ice age buck wild, The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (2022), directed by John Donkin, a Disney+ original and one of the ice age spin offs that arrived on January 28, 2022. The most recent theatrical film is ice age collision course, Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), directed by Michael Thurmeier, which reached US theaters on July 22, 2016. Boiling Point will be the first Ice Age film in theaters in more than ten years.

Is it Ice Age 6 or Ice Age 7? Both labels are in use, and both are fair. Five films played in theaters between 2002 and 2016, so Boiling Point is the sixth theatrical film, which is why the early trade coverage called it Ice Age 6. TheWrap also counted Buck Wild as the sixth entry in the franchise, which makes Boiling Point the seventh film overall. What do we know for sure about Ice Age: Boiling Point? A title, five confirmed voices, a director, a producer and a US date of February 5, 2027, and very little else. Disney has not released a synopsis as of November 3, 2026, so any answer to what happens in the film is a guess. In my opinion, the title is the most interesting clue. A series that began with an ice age in 2002 now has a name about heat, and it could be argued that the herd faces a changing climate again, much as The Meltdown (2006), directed by Carlos Saldanha, did when a melting ice wall threatened the valley. That is a reading of the title, not a studio statement.

Why do the returning voices matter? The recasting in Buck Wild was the biggest change for long time viewers, so having Romano, Leguizamo and Leary back is, perhaps, the strongest sign that Boiling Point is meant to sit with the main saga again. The film also has something to prove in theaters. According to The Numbers, Collision Course earned about $402 million worldwide on a $105 million budget, with only $64 million of that in the US, while Dawn of the Dinosaurs reached $887 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.
