Mission Impossible 9 Trailer: Is There One Yet?

There is no official Mission Impossible 9 trailer, because Paramount Pictures has not announced a ninth film and no studio source gives a title, cast or release date. Every genuine trailer for the series stops at Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning (2025), directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt.

No official Mission Impossible 9 trailer has turned up, even though search results show videos titled "Mission Impossible 9" that list a cast and a year. They sit right beside the official Final Reckoning trailer, which is why the status looks murkier than it is. No studio or trade source has announced a ninth film with a title, cast or release date, so none of those cast lists or years describes a confirmed project. If you want to know where the series officially stands, the mission impossible 9 page tracks the status and will carry any change.

One unconfirmed rumor is circulating, and it has no trailer attached. An anonymous email shared by the gossip account DeuxMoi, reported by Yahoo Entertainment on February 19, 2026, claimed that Chloe Zhao is in talks to write and direct Mission: Impossible 9. It also claimed that Tom Cruise met with her, that they developed a treatment and that writing is underway. Yahoo says the claim cannot be verified, and Paramount, Cruise and Zhao have made no statement. Until a studio or a trade paper confirms it, treat it as gossip.

Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning, the eighth film, was marketed as the final one, but no studio statement says the saga is over. Newsweek's coverage describes it as possibly Cruise's swansong and says McQuarrie hopes it is a satisfying conclusion. As such, the plain position is that a ninth film has not been announced, and any trailer claiming otherwise is fan made.

In my opinion, any genuine trailer for a ninth film would be judged against the practical stunts that sold the last five. Perhaps that is the quickest way to spot a fake: a fan cut can borrow a cast list, but it cannot borrow a stunt with a paper trail. Ghost Protocol (2011) had Cruise climb the Burj Khalifa himself, according to ET Online. Rogue Nation (2015) built its A400M sequence and an underwater tank sequence around real work, as fxguide documents. Fallout (2018) involved HALO jump training, and Cruise's ankle injury changed the shoot, according to Screen Global Production. Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) put the motorcycle cliff jump in Hellesylt, Norway, behind more than 500 skydives and 13,000 motorcycle jumps, according to Today. The Final Reckoning then went to a biplane in South Africa and the submarine tanks at Longcross Studios, according to the American Society of Cinematographers.

The money tells the same story. Mission: Impossible (1996) cost $80 million, while The Final Reckoning cost $350 million, according to Box Office Mojo. It could be argued that a trailer for a ninth film has a harder job than any before it, since it must top a biplane and a sunken submarine while the studio has not even said a sequel exists. If you see footage that looks bigger than that with no Paramount logo and no trade coverage, it is almost certainly a concept video.

The eight released films are the full catalog of trailers you can watch today, and the official versions come from the studio's own channel. Here is what each film sets up, so you know which one you are looking for.
