Agent Stone Sonic: Who He Is and Who Plays Him

Agent Stone is Dr. Robotnik's assistant in the Sonic movies, played by Lee Majdoub in all three films of the live action series. The credits use the same name every time, Agent Stone, so there are no alternate names to track. Majdoub is billed eighth in Sonic the Hedgehog (2020), tenth in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and eighth in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, all three directed by Jeff Fowler.

He is a supporting player, and he works in the shadow of Jim Carrey's dr robotnik, who takes most of the attention in any scene they share. In a comic villain story that is how an assistant tends to work: the boss performs, and the assistant stands a step behind with the practical details.

Agent Stone's story runs through all three films, from a credited part in 2020 to an active part of the heroes' plan in the third film. The three films were released on February 14, 2020, April 8, 2022 and December 20, 2024 in the US, so his arc spans nearly five years of the series.

In sonic the hedgehog 2020, the story begins when Sonic accidentally knocks out power across the region near Green Hills, Montana, and the military calls in the eccentric inventor Dr. Robotnik to find the cause. Majdoub is credited as Agent Stone in that film, billed eighth.

The sonic 2 movie gives him a sharper moment. In a mid credits scene, Agent Stone overhears G.U.N. discussing a secret facility linked to Project Shadow, and Shadow appears briefly in live action in a non speaking cameo. It is a small scene, but it passes the thread on to the next film, and Stone is the person who happens to hear it.

In sonic the hedgehog 3, Stone moves closer to the center. After G.U.N. Director Rockwell turns against the heroes, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles team up with Ivo Robotnik's assistant Agent Stone and track Ivo's drones to an abandoned G.U.N. base. He is therefore part of the team that finds the base where Ivo meets his grandfather Gerald.

The films never explain why Agent Stone is loyal to Dr. Robotnik; what they show is a working partnership, with Stone as the assistant and Robotnik as the boss.

The third film complicates that picture. Ivo Robotnik is joined at the abandoned G.U.N. base by his grandfather Gerald, who freed Shadow and plans to fire the Eclipse Cannon at G.U.N. headquarters in London, and Ivo joins him. Yet Stone is the one who helps Sonic, Tails and Knuckles follow the drones there. In my opinion, his loyalty attaches to the Ivo he works for rather than to every plan Ivo takes up, though that is a reading and the films do not state it outright.

His other connections are with the heroes. In the third film he teams up with Sonic, tails sonic and knuckles sonic movie to track the drones. In the second film, his mid credits scene has him overhearing G.U.N. talk about a facility linked to Project Shadow, which links that story to the next one.

Agent Stone is not reported to die in any of the three films. The third film ends with heavy losses elsewhere: Gerald dies in the reactor core, and Ivo and Shadow sacrifice themselves to push the failing cannon core away from Earth.

Stone is also not shown leaving the story. The third film closes with Sonic surviving and reconciling with his friends and family, and it leaves the future of Shadow and the Robotnik family open for later films. It could be argued that this openness matters for Stone, because an assistant whose Robotnik has just sacrificed himself is left without an employer.

As for Sonic 4, Paramount set the US release for March 19, 2027, and filming began on March 2, 2026. Nothing reported so far confirms or rules out Agent Stone's return, so any claim that he is back is a guess. In my opinion, Agent Stone's best moment is the mid credits scene in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, where he overhears G.U.N. talking about a secret facility tied to Project Shadow. It does a lot of work for a small scene, because it turns an assistant into the person who carries the next film's secret.

My second pick is his turn in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, when he joins Sonic, Tails and Knuckles after Rockwell turns on them and helps follow Ivo's drones to the abandoned G.U.N. base. It could be argued that this is the moment he steps out from beside Robotnik and into the heroes' plan.

My third is simply that the role lasted: Majdoub is credited as Agent Stone in 2020, 2022 and 2024. If you are a parent choosing a film for tonight, all three are rated PG in the US, UK and Australia, so any of them is a fair place to spot him.
