The 11 Main Spider-Man Movies

How Many Spider-Man Movies Have Been Released?

There are 11 Spider-Man movies released in theaters, and they fall into four screen eras: three films with Tobey Maguire, two with Andrew Garfield, four with Tom Holland and two animated Spider-Verse films led by Shameik Moore as Miles Morales. Every one of the 11 is a main saga entry. The newest is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which reached US theaters on July 31, 2026.

Why do some lists say 9, 10 or 12? Mostly because of timing. A count made after Spider-Man: No Way Home stood at nine, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse made it 10, and Brand New Day made it 11. A figure of 12 only appears when Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is added, and that film has not been released. Spin-offs built around other characters, such as the Venom films, are not counted because Spider-Man does not star in them, and Venom appears in the count only as a villain (Topher Grace plays Venom / Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 3). If you want a viewing plan rather than a tally, the Spider-Man movies in order guide covers it.

Are There 12 Spider-Man Movies?

No, there are not 12 Spider-Man movies yet, because the 12th film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is still in production and is set for US release on June 18, 2027. Sony moved it one week earlier, from June 25 to Father's Day weekend, on September 25, 2025.

TheWrap reported in April 2026 that Sony showed footage at CinemaCon and that Shameik Moore (Miles Morales), Hailee Steinfeld (Gwen Stacy), Jake Johnson (Peter B. Parker), Jason Schwartzman (The Spot), Daniel Kaluuya (Hobie Brown), Karan Soni (Pavitr Prabhakar) and Mahershala Ali (Uncle Aaron) are attached. Those names are reported rather than announced in a studio release, and TMDB lists Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson as directors. Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse will be the 12th Spider-Man movie once it opens.

All Spider-Man Movies With Tom Holland

Tom Holland leads four of the 11 films: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), all directed by Jon Watts, then Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. All four are part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, unlike the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb films.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the one that blurs the eras. Its cast lists Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire beside Holland, with Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina and Jamie Foxx returning as Norman Osborn / Green Goblin, Dr. Otto Octavius / Doc Ock and Max Dillon / Electro. Brand New Day opens four years after Doctor Strange's spell made the world forget Peter Parker, with Sadie Sink as Jean Grey and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / Punisher. For the people behind each film, see the Spider-Man cast page.

All Spider-Man Movies, Animated

Two of the 11 Spider-Man movies are animated, and both follow Miles Morales: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), directed by Kemp Powers, Justin K. Thompson and Joaquim Dos Santos. They form their own universe, separate from the live action runs.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sets Miles (voiced by Shameik Moore), a Brooklyn teenager bitten by a radioactive spider, against the collider of Wilson Fisk / Kingpin, with Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker and Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy. Across the Spider-Verse follows Gwen on Earth-65 and Miles on Earth-1610 into a fight with the Spot (Jason Schwartzman), and adds Oscar Isaac as Miguel O'Hara. Browse the Spider-Verse characters for the wider ensemble.

The Earlier Live Action Films: Raimi and Webb

The first five live action films belong to two directors, with Sam Raimi making Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2007) with Tobey Maguire, and Marc Webb making The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) with Andrew Garfield. Each director's run is a separate continuity, which is why the count never treats them as one story.

Raimi's run brings in Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn / Green Goblin, Alfred Molina as Dr. Otto Octavius / Doc Ock and Thomas Haden Church as Flint Marko / Sandman, with Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson throughout. Webb's films cast Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors / The Lizard and Jamie Foxx as Electro. The full run of Spider-Man actors and the Spider-Man villains show how those casts line up.

Which Spider-Man Movie Made the Most Money?

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has the biggest gross of the 11 Spider-Man movies, at about $2.52 billion worldwide according to The Numbers, on a $225 million budget. Spider-Man: No Way Home sits second at about $1.92 billion, and Spider-Man: Far From Home is third at about $1.13 billion.
