Who Composed the Predator Soundtrack?
Seven composers have scored the nine Predator films: Alan Silvestri (Predator 1987 and Predator 2), Harald Kloser (AVP: Alien vs. Predator), Brian Tyler (Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem), John Debney (Predators), Henry Jackman (The Predator), Sarah Schachner (Prey and Predator: Badlands) and Benjamin Wallfisch (Predator: Killer of Killers). Silvestri and Schachner are the only two to score more than one film.
Alan Silvestri scored Predator (1987), directed by John McTiernan. Its album, "Predator: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack", came out on Alien Records in 2001 with 34 tracks, among them "Main Title", "The Chopper", "Jungle Trek" and "First Strike". He returned for Predator 2 (1990), directed by Stephen Hopkins. That album, "Predator 2: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack", was released by Varèse Sarabande on December 4, 1990, with 11 tracks including "Main Title", "Tunnel Chase", "El Scorpio" and "This Is History".
Harald Kloser scored AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004), directed by Paul W. S. Anderson.
Brian Tyler scored Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007), directed by Colin and Greg Strause. Varèse Sarabande released "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem" on December 11, 2007, with 21 tracks. The best-known cues by title are "Decimation Proclamation", "Predicide" and "National Guard, Part 1".
John Debney scored Predators (2010), directed by Nimród Antal. La-La Land Records released "Predators: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" on August 10, 2010, with 24 tracks such as "Free Fall", "This Is Hell" and "Meet Mr. Black".
Henry Jackman scored The Predator (2018), directed by Shane Black. Lakeshore Records released "The Predator" on September 28, 2018, with 25 tracks, including "Arrival", "Project Stargazer" and "Another World".
Sarah Schachner scored Prey (2022), directed by Dan Trachtenberg. Hollywood Records released "Prey (Original Soundtrack)" on August 5, 2022, with 20 tracks such as "Predator Instinct", "Thrill of the Chase" and "Naru and Surii". She also scored Predator: Badlands (2025), again directed by Trachtenberg. Hollywood Records released "Predator: Badlands: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" on November 7, 2025, with 27 tracks, among them "Yautja Prime", "Earn Your Place" and "Meet Thia".
Benjamin Wallfisch scored the animated Predator: Killer of Killers (2025), also directed by Trachtenberg. Hollywood Records released its soundtrack on June 6, 2025, with 20 tracks including "Earth 841 A.D.", "Duel" and "Predator vs. Kenji".

Predator Soundtrack Songs: What Carries the Music?
The signature song of the Predator films is "Long Tall Sally" by Little Richard, which plays in both Predator (1987) and Predators. Predator 2 is the only other film in the series with licensed songs, and every other film relies on its composed score alone.
Predator (1987). "Long Tall Sally" by Little Richard plays during the helicopter flight, as the rescue team travels toward the jungle. It is the only song credited to the film, and the rest of the music is Alan Silvestri's score, which opens its album with "Fox Fanfare", "Silver Pictures Logo" and "Main Title".
Predator 2. Predator 2 (1990) lists five songs: "En Mi Barrio" by Gerardo, and four tracks by Papa Dee, "Young Gifted and Black", "Hypocrites (Dem Haffi Leave)", "Lettin' Off Steam" and "Fake". They are not tied to particular scenes. Silvestri's score album for the film, released by Varèse Sarabande, also opens with a "Main Title" cue.
Predators. Predators (2010) brings back "Long Tall Sally" by Little Richard. It plays over the end credits right after the film cuts to black, which echoes the helicopter scene in Predator (1987).
The other films. AVP: Alien vs. Predator, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, The Predator, Prey (2022), Predator: Killer of Killers and Predator: Badlands have no notable songs. Their music is score by Harald Kloser, Brian Tyler, Henry Jackman, Sarah Schachner, Benjamin Wallfisch and Schachner again, in that order.
In my opinion, that makes this a score driven saga, which suits a story about a hunter the characters cannot see. A pop song on the soundtrack would compete with the creature, so the few that appear stand out all the more. It could be argued that the series spends its song budget early, since the 1987 helicopter scene and the 2010 credits callback carry most of the weight.
Our picks: the best songs in the Predator films (opinion)
- "Long Tall Sally" by Little Richard: it is the one song that links two films, playing in the 1987 helicopter flight and again over the Predators end credits.
- "En Mi Barrio" by Gerardo: in my view it is the pick of the Predator 2 songs, because it is the only one not credited to Papa Dee.
- "Young Gifted and Black" by Papa Dee: a title that stands out on the Predator 2 song list, and the one I would play first.
- "Hypocrites (Dem Haffi Leave)" by Papa Dee: the most distinctive title of the five, and the one that sends me looking for the scene it belongs to.
- "Lettin' Off Steam" by Papa Dee: a good fit for a film that puts a Predator in a city, at least as a title.
- "Fake" by Papa Dee: the shortest title of the set, and a fair place to end a run through the Predator 2 songs.
