The Frozen 3 release date is November 24, 2027 in the United States, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. TheWrap reported Disney's date, Box Office Mojo lists the same earliest domestic date, and D23, Disney's own fan event site, lists November 24, 2027 as the theatrical date, so the US date is confirmed by the studio and backed by two outlets.

What about the UK and Australia? Neither market has a published date yet, so both remain to be confirmed. For comparison, Frozen (2013) opened in the US on November 27, 2013, and Frozen II opened on November 22, 2019 in the US and the UK, with Australia following on November 28.

Has the date moved? At D23 in August 2024, Disney said the film would debut in 2027, and D23 later listed November 24, 2027. No change to that date has been reported as of November 3, 2026. A Thanksgiving week opening is a familiar choice for the studio, since Frozen (2013) and Frozen II both opened in late November too.

Why is Frozen 3 coming out so late? Frozen II arrived in November 2019, which leaves eight years before Frozen III, the longest gap in the saga. No reason for the gap has been confirmed, so any explanation you read elsewhere is guesswork. The shorts, including Once Upon a Snowman on Disney Plus in October 2020, kept the characters visible in the meantime.

Is Frozen 3 Coming Soon? Current Status

Frozen 3 is announced and dated, but it is not coming this season: Disney has set Frozen III for US theaters on November 24, 2027, just over a year away. There is no Frozen 3 movie to watch yet, because nothing has been released. What exists so far is a dated release, a confirmed group of voices and directors, and the first footage Disney showed at its D23 showcase in August 2026.

The road to this point started at D23 in August 2024, when Disney showed the first concept art and a new logo for the film and said it would debut in 2027. Two years later, the August 2026 D23 showcase listed the November 24, 2027 date and put footage in front of the fans in the room. Frozen III is listed as in production.

It helps to know where the film sits in the saga. Frozen (2013), directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, made about $1.31 billion worldwide according to Box Office Mojo. Frozen II (2019), directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, made about $1.45 billion on the same $150 million budget. Between them came three shorts: Frozen Fever (2015), Olaf's Frozen Adventure (2017) and Once Upon a Snowman (2020). Frozen III is the third main film, and the full sequence is laid out in our frozen movies in order guide.

A Frozen 4 has been reported, but Disney has not announced it. For every upcoming film across franchises, the upcoming movies page keeps the slate in one place, and any official footage for this film will be gathered on the frozen 3 trailer page.

Who Is in the Frozen 3 Cast?

The confirmed Frozen 3 cast so far is Kristen Bell as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa and Josh Gad as Olaf, all three listed by D23, Disney's official fan event. So, if you are asking who is playing Elsa in Frozen 3, the answer is Idina Menzel, who voiced Elsa in both main films and in the shorts.

What about Kristoff? Jonathan Groff voiced Kristoff in Frozen (2013), Frozen II, Frozen Fever and Olaf's Frozen Adventure. The confirmed list from Disney, however, names only Bell, Menzel and Gad, so Groff has not been announced for Frozen III. Treat any claim otherwise as unconfirmed until Disney says it.

Behind the camera, Disney's D23 announcement names Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy as directors and Christina Chen as a producer. Lee co-directed the first two films, so she is the creative thread that runs through the whole saga. Correy co-directed the Olaf short Once Upon a Snowman (2020) with Dan Abraham, which is available on Disney Plus.

TheWrap has also reported further credits: Peter Del Vecho as producer, Jennifer Lee as writer, and Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez as writers. Those are reported, not confirmed by the studio. The Lopezes wrote the songs for Frozen (2013), including the Oscar winner Let It Go, so their return would matter for the music. For the full ensemble across the saga, see the frozen cast page and the frozen characters list.

Announced cast. Confirmed means announced by the studio; reported means a trade report the studio has not confirmed.

Frozen 3 and 4: What Is Rumor and What Is Confirmed?

Frozen 3 is confirmed, while Frozen 4 is only reported. The one rumor with a named outlet is TheWrap's November 19, 2025 report that Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad signed deals worth more than $60 million each to cover both Frozen 3 and Frozen 4. Disney declined to comment, so the report stands as reported, not confirmed. If the deals are real, they would point to a fourth film, but Disney has not announced one.

So, are Frozen 3 and 4 both confirmed? No. Frozen III has a studio announced title, date and cast. Frozen 4 has a trade report about contracts and nothing more. It could be argued that signing two films together is a sensible way to lock in a cast for a long project, but that is reasoning from a report, not a fact.

Fan talk and some articles mention an Anna and Kristoff wedding and a new villain for Frozen III. Neither idea appears in Disney's confirmed date, cast or directors, so both remain unverified. The same goes for whether Elsa marries in the film: the film has not been released, so no confirmed answer exists.

Claims that do not come from Disney or a named trade outlet stay out of the confirmed column. Treat any unsourced claim about the plot as speculation until the studio or a trade paper reports it.

What We Know About Frozen III So Far

In my opinion, the most useful way to read the Frozen III news is to separate the solid facts from the story guesses. The solid facts are few but good: a US date of November 24, 2027, Bell, Menzel and Gad confirmed, Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy directing, and first footage shown at D23 in August 2026. Everything about the plot, the villain and any wedding sits outside that list.

Perhaps the most interesting choice is the directing pair. Lee has been on every main film, so the emotional spine of Anna and Elsa, two sisters who spent childhood apart and then rebuilt their bond, is in hands that know it. Correy comes from the Olaf shorts, and I would not be surprised if that shows up in the comedy, although that is my guess and not a report. Frozen II (2019) leaned into mythology and the Enchanted Forest, and it will be telling whether the third film goes bigger on that or returns to the family story of the first.

For parents choosing a film for the family, the practical point is the rating. Frozen (2013) and Frozen II are both rated PG in the US, and no certification is listed yet for Frozen III, so check it once it appears.

So, what should you do in the meantime? Rewatch the two main films, then the shorts. Both main films stream on Disney Plus in the US, UK and Australia (checked November 3, 2026), and the where to watch frozen page has the full list. For the order, use the frozen movies in order guide, and for the whole series, start from frozen movies. Meet the sisters again through elsa frozen and anna frozen, and look back at frozen 2 before the new film arrives.
