Is the Mummy 4 Trailer Out Yet?

No official trailer for The Mummy 4 has been verified on a studio channel yet. The film searchers call Mummy 4 is The Mummy: Book of the Dead, announced on October 15, 2026 with a US theatrical release date of October 15, 2027, according to The A.V. Club. Universal Pictures lists the film under that title on its official site, and no plot details have been disclosed.

Why do so many results say "The Mummy 4 (2027) New Trailer"? The phrase is a popular search, and several of the top videos label themselves as concepts, for example "The Mummy 4 (2027) New Trailer | Brendan Fraser - Concept". Others use the subtitle "Retribution", which is not the title Universal announced. If a video does not sit on an official studio channel, treat it as unconfirmed, much like a fan-drawn poster passing itself off as the real one. One more mix-up is worth clearing: Lee Cronin's The Mummy (2026) is a separate film and has nothing to do with this series, so a trailer under that name is not a preview of Book of the Dead.

What is known about the film is short but solid. Radio Silence, the directing team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, is directing from a script by David Coggeshall, according to Variety. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are reported to return, alongside John Hannah, Kevin J. O'Connor and Oded Fehr, with Numan Acar and Michael Johnston also named, per The A.V. Club. That report did not give character names. Fehr played Ardeth Bay in The Mummy (1999) and The Mummy Returns (2001), but his role in the new film has not been confirmed. The same goes for Imhotep: Arnold Vosloo played the high priest in both of those films and is not among the actors reported so far.

The date has also moved. Universal first announced a May 19, 2028 release in February 2026, and Variety reported in April 2026 that it shifted to October 15, 2027. No UK or Australian release date has been reported. The first public word on the project came earlier, when TheWrap reported on November 4, 2025 that Fraser and Weisz were in talks, with Universal declining to comment. What will a real trailer have to prove? It could be argued that the franchise has always sold itself on a particular mix, and the earlier films show how it works. The Mummy (1999), directed by Stephen Sommers, sent the librarian Evelyn Carnahan and the soldier of fortune Rick O'Connell to the lost city of Hamunaptra on an $80 million budget. The Mummy Returns (2001), also directed by Sommers, moved to London in 1933 and then to the oasis of Ahm Shere, with a bigger $98 million budget and Dwayne Johnson's debut as the Scorpion King. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), directed by Rob Cohen, jumped to 1946 and the tomb of a Chinese emperor, with Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh, and Maria Bello stepped in for Weisz as Evelyn, according to Variety. That recast is the main reason the return of Weisz matters so much to fans.

The gaps between films are also telling. The 1999 and 2001 films arrived two years apart, while the 2008 film came seven years after the second. The Mummy (2017), directed by Alex Kurtzman with Tom Cruise as Nick Morton and Sofia Boutella as Ahmanet, was a separate reboot, and it set a very different tone to the O'Connell adventures. As such, the first Book of the Dead footage will show which tradition Radio Silence is following. In my opinion, a quick glimpse of Fraser and Weisz together would settle more arguments than any title card, but that is a guess about the marketing and not a report.

Until Universal posts something, the practical move is to watch the older films and compare. If you want to catch up before the new film, start with the mummy movies in order, and check where to watch the mummy for streaming. Every title in the series is collected on the the mummy movies hub.
