Who Plays Zora Bennett?

Who Is Zora Bennett in Jurassic World Rebirth?

Zora Bennett is the lead character of Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), a former covert operative hired to lead a secret expedition into dinosaur territory. She is played by Scarlett Johansson, who holds the first billing in the cast, ahead of Mahershala Ali as Duncan Kincaid and Jonathan Bailey as Dr. Henry Loomis. The credits give her name only as Zora Bennett.

The film is set five years after Jurassic World Dominion, at a point where most of Earth has become too hostile for the revived dinosaurs and they survive mainly in zones near the equator. Pharmaceutical executive Martin Krebs, played by Rupert Friend, hires Zora to lead a secret expedition to a restricted island that once housed InGen's research. The goal is to take genetic material from three giant dinosaurs, one each from the sea, land and air, in the hope of developing a heart disease treatment.

She is a different kind of lead from the earlier ones. Owen Grady trained animals and Claire Dearing ran a park, whereas Zora is a hired professional who picks her own crew. She recruits Henry Loomis, the paleontologist, and Duncan Kincaid, the boat captain, among others.

If you are wondering where she sits in the series, she belongs to the newest chapter. The jurassic park timeline places Rebirth after Dominion, and the jurassic park movies in order guide lists it as the seventh main film.

Zora Bennett's Story ArcSpoilers

Zora starts Jurassic World Rebirth as a contractor with a price and a deadline, and she finishes it as the person who decides what the mission was for. Martin Krebs sends her to Ile Saint-Hubert, the former InGen research site, to bring back biological samples from three enormous dinosaurs.

The sea comes first. A Mosasaurus gives up its sample, but the attack kills the mercenary Bobby Atwater (Ed Skrein), and the job stops looking routine. Soon afterward the Delgado family is shipwrecked in the same waters. When Teresa goes overboard, Martin does nothing, because a rescue would expose the operation. Zora's crew picks the family up regardless, and that is where her loyalties visibly shift from her employer to the people on the boat with her.

Onshore, the team collects a Titanosaurus sample and an egg from a Quetzalcoatlus nest, which completes the land and air targets. Nina dies somewhere along the way. The two groups later converge on the old InGen complex, home to the Distortus rex, a mutated predator.

Martin snatches the samples and bolts, and the Distortus rex kills him. It also wrecks the helicopter meant to carry everyone out, so the survivors leave by boat. Zora and Henry Loomis then settle the question the whole trip was built around: the biomaterial will be shared openly, not kept by a company.

Zora Bennett's Relationships: Martin Krebs, Henry Loomis and Duncan Kincaid

Zora's relationships are mostly professional, and they define the mission more than any backstory does. The most important is with her employer, Martin Krebs, who hires her and then abandons the Delgado family's Teresa to keep the job quiet. Martin is killed by the Distortus rex after he grabs the samples and runs, which ends that relationship in the most direct way the film could.

Her closest working partnership is with Dr. Henry Loomis, the paleontologist played by Jonathan Bailey. The two of them make the final call to share the biomaterial openly, so he is the person who stands with her when the ending turns on a decision rather than a chase.

Duncan Kincaid, the boat captain played by Mahershala Ali, is the third member of the core trio. Duncan seems to sacrifice himself by drawing the Distortus rex away with a flare, so that the others can escape. A later shot of another flare in the sky shows he survived and is rescued.

She also ends up responsible for the Delgados, a shipwrecked family that includes Reuben, Teresa and Isabella, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise and Audrina Miranda. They are the civilians the mission was never meant to include, and her team rescues them anyway. Nina, played by Philippine Velge, is a team member who dies on the island.

Does Zora Bennett Die in Jurassic World Rebirth?Spoilers

Zora Bennett survives Jurassic World Rebirth. She escapes the island by boat with the other survivors after the Distortus rex destroys the rescue helicopter, and the ending shows her and Henry Loomis choosing to make the biomaterial open source instead of letting a company own it.

The film leaves the Distortus rex alive on the island, and Martin Krebs is dead. JoBlo reports that Duncan was originally meant to die, and that the studio asked for footage of him surviving, which tested better. The survival of Duncan and the lead trio is reported to leave room for a sequel.

As for what comes next, TheWrap reported on August 6, 2026 that Gareth Edwards will not direct the follow up to Rebirth because of creative differences, that David Koepp has written a script, and that Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey are expected to return. A director search is underway. No release date has been announced, and Newsweek reports that Universal has not officially greenlit a sequel. The latest status sits on the next jurassic world movie page.

Zora Bennett's Best Moments

Zora's strongest moments are the ones where her professional training is tested against a question of right and wrong. In my opinion, she matters most as the human anchor for a creature movie that spends a lot of its running time with very large animals.

The first is the Mosasaurus sample, which also costs the team Bobby Atwater. It sets the rules of the mission early: the sea, land and air targets are real animals that kill, and a sample is not a trophy. A paid crew in a boat is small next to an animal that can end the job in one attack, and the sequence uses that scale well.

The second is the rescue of the Delgado family after Martin refuses to help Teresa. It could be argued that this is the moment the character is defined, because Zora chooses people over secrecy even though secrecy is what she was hired for.

The third is the finale at the old InGen complex, where the Distortus rex kills Martin, wrecks the helicopter and forces the escape by boat. Duncan's flare gives the group its window, and Zora's closing choice with Henry to share the biomaterial gives the story a point beyond survival. Perhaps the best thing about that ending is that it answers the mission's own question: who gets to benefit from dinosaur DNA.
