Bo Peep Toy Story: Voice, Story Arc and Where She Is Now
Bo Peep in Toy Story is one of Andy's toys, voiced by Annie Potts in Toy Story (1995), Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 4, and she is back at Woody's side at the end of Toy Story 5. She does not appear in Toy Story 3, and she changes the most in Toy Story 4, where she is a lost toy living without an owner.
Who Plays Bo Peep (voice)?
Who Is Bo Peep in Toy Story?
Bo Peep is a toy in Andy's room, credited as a voice role in three Toy Story films: Toy Story (1995), directed by John Lasseter, Toy Story 2 (1999), also directed by Lasseter, and Toy Story 4 (2019), directed by Josh Cooley. Annie Potts is credited as Bo Peep in all three, billed seventh, ninth and third in their casts. Bo is also with Woody at the end of Toy Story 5 (2026), directed by Andrew Stanton.
Her screen time is very uneven across the saga, so she is easy to lose track of. Does Bo Peep appear in Toy Story 3? No. The 2010 film, directed by Lee Unkrich, centers on Andy leaving for college and the toys' stay at Sunnyside Daycare, and its credited cast has no Bo Peep. The credits give no reason for the gap, so any explanation you read elsewhere is speculation.
The Bo Peep of Toy Story 4 is also a different kind of character from the one in the first film. In 1995 she is one of the toys sharing a room with Woody, and by 2019 she is a lost toy living without an owner. If you are comparing Bo Peep in Toy Story 1 and Toy Story 4, that gap is the whole point of her arc. For the wider ensemble, see our guide to the toy story characters and the full toy story cast.

Bo Peep Toy Story 1 to 5: Her Story ArcSpoilers
Bo Peep begins as part of the familiar group of toys in Andy's room and ends the franchise as a lost toy who travels with Woody. Her early appearances are small. In Toy Story (1995) she is one of the toys who live alongside Woody as he goes from being Andy's favorite to sharing that place with Buzz Lightyear. In Toy Story 2 she is credited again, billed ninth, in the film where Buzz and the others cross town to rescue Woody from the collector Al McWhiggin.
Then she vanishes. Bo Peep is absent from Toy Story 3, in which Andy sorts his toys before college and the group ends up at Sunnyside Daycare. Toy Story 4 brings her back.
The fourth film is where her story takes shape. Woody is chasing the handmade toy Forky when he runs into Bo in a small town. She is now a lost toy with her sheep and the tiny police toy Giggle McDimples, and she has no child to answer to. She helps Woody with his plan for Gabby Gabby, and the two grow close again. By the end, Woody decides to stay with Bo as a lost toy rather than return to Bonnie's room.
In Toy Story 5, Woody heads back out on the open road with Bo Peep, and a walkie-talkie keeps him in touch with Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the gang. If you are tracing the whole saga, our toy story timeline and toy story movies in order page show where each appearance sits.
Who Is Closest to Bo Peep? Her Relationships
Woody is the toy closest to Bo Peep. In Toy Story 4 the two grow close again, and his decision to stay with her ends his time in Bonnie's room. If you are wondering who has a crush on Bo Peep, the films never use that word, but Woody is the toy they pair her with. You can read more about him at woody toy story.
Her other bonds are with the friends she made on her own. Giggle McDimples, voiced by Ally Maki, is the tiny police toy who travels with her and her sheep. Bo and her friends also help Woody persuade Gabby Gabby, voiced by Christina Hendricks, to try for a different child, and Woody and Bo grow close along the way. Gabby is covered at gabby gabby toy story.
Her link to the rest of the group runs mostly through Woody. Buzz Lightyear encourages Woody to follow his heart when he decides to stay, and the group says a tearful goodbye before the RV drives off. See buzz lightyear and forky toy story for two characters Bo meets in that film. In Toy Story 5, a walkie-talkie keeps Woody and Bo in touch with the friends they left behind, including jessie toy story.
What Happens to Bo Peep? Her FateSpoilers
Bo Peep ends Toy Story 4 as a lost toy by choice, and she is still with Woody at the end of Toy Story 5. At the carnival, Woody stays behind with her rather than return to Bonnie's room, and the others leave in the RV. Woody, Bo and their friends then spend their time helping prize toys find children to love. The film also gives Gabby Gabby a child of her own, which rounds off the plan Bo helped with.
Toy Story 5 keeps her in the picture. The film ends with Woody on the open road with Bo Peep, and a walkie-talkie lets him stay in touch with Buzz, Jessie and the rest of the group. TMDB's top 15 billed cast for Toy Story 5 does not list Bo Peep, so a voice credit for her in that film is unconfirmed.
What comes next is unknown. Toy Story 6 has no confirmed release date, greenlight or production status, and any date you see online is unsourced rumor. For now, Bo stands free, out on the road, next to Woody.
Bo Peep's Best Moments, Ranked by Feel
In my opinion, Bo Peep's best moments are all in Toy Story 4, because that is the film that gives her a point of view of her own. It could be argued that she is a minor presence in the first two films and only becomes a full character once she has no owner telling her where to be. That being said, the three scenes below are the ones I would send a new viewer to first.
The first is her reunion with Woody in the small town. It works because the film does not treat her as a prize for him to win back. She has built a life without a child, and Woody is the one who has to catch up. The second is the plan for Gabby Gabby, where Bo, Giggle McDimples and Woody work together and Woody and Bo grow close again. It shows Bo as a leader who solves problems, which is a long way from the toy in Andy's room in 1995.
The third is the ending at the carnival. Compare it with Toy Story 2, where Woody chooses Andy over the museum in Tokyo and accepts that Andy will grow up. In Toy Story 4 he makes the opposite call, choosing life as a lost toy with Bo over returning to Bonnie. I would call that the most daring ending in the saga. The walkie-talkie in Toy Story 5 then softens the goodbye, which suits the series well. If you are choosing a film to watch first, see toy story movies ranked for where Toy Story 4 sits.
