All figures in the table come from Box Office Mojo, checked on November 3, 2026.

How much did the 2013 film Frozen make at the box office? Box Office Mojo reports $400.7 million domestic and $909.6 million international, which adds up to $1.31 billion worldwide. The Numbers publishes lower totals for the same film, about $1.27 billion worldwide and about $401 million domestic. That is why you will see two different worldwide figures for Frozen (2013) around the web, and we quote Box Office Mojo throughout. Frozen (2013) opened in limited release on November 22, 2013, and went wide on Wednesday, November 27, according to The Numbers. It also won two Oscars, for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

How much has Frozen 2 made? Box Office Mojo lists $477.4 million domestic and $976.3 million international, for $1.45 billion worldwide. Disney moved the US release to November 22, 2019, from November 27, according to BroadwayWorld.

What about the shorts? Frozen Fever (2015) played before Cinderella on March 13, 2015. Olaf's Frozen Adventure (2017) ran before Coco from November 22, 2017, until Disney pulled it from December 8, 2017, as a limited run. Once Upon a Snowman (2020) went straight to Disney Plus on October 23, 2020. Box Office Mojo lists no budget or gross for Frozen Fever, The Numbers lists none for Olaf's Frozen Adventure, and Once Upon a Snowman has no budget or gross on record either, so the shorts add nothing to the totals above. If you want the full lineup, the Frozen movies hub lists every film, and how many Frozen movies there are has its own answer.

Why Did Frozen II Out-Earn the First Film?

Frozen II (2019) out-earned Frozen (2013) by about $143 million on an identical $150 million budget, and, in my opinion, the audience the first film built did most of the work. Both films are roughly two thirds international, about 69 percent for Frozen (2013) and 67 percent for Frozen II (2019), so the sequel did not change where the money came from. It simply sold more tickets in the same places. The domestic share nudged up from about 31 percent to about 33 percent, which fits a sequel arriving with a family audience already waiting in the United States.

The release dates are worth a look too. Frozen (2013) opened wide on November 27, 2013, and Disney moved Frozen II forward to November 22, 2019, from November 27. It could be argued that the earlier slot gave the sequel a little more room in the holiday season, but I would not credit the date alone. Frozen (2013) had two Oscars and a song, Let It Go, to its name, and a sequel with that behind it started from a very different place than the first film did. Perhaps that is the real story: the first film earned its audience, and the second one inherited it.

The shorts tell a different tale. Frozen Fever (2015) and Olaf's Frozen Adventure (2017) were attached to other Disney and Pixar releases, and Box Office Mojo and The Numbers, respectively, list no budget or gross for them. Olaf's Frozen Adventure was originally made for TV. They kept the characters in theaters between the two main films without carrying a box office number of their own. If you want the order they sit in, the Frozen movies in order guide has it, and the Frozen movies ranked page gives my verdicts on the two main films.

What does this mean for Frozen III? Disney has dated it for November 24, 2027, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, according to TheWrap, and Box Office Mojo lists the same earliest domestic date. The date has moved before, since it was once slotted for November 2026 and then announced again at D23 in August 2024. Any forecast is speculation, but with $1.45 billion as the latest benchmark, I would expect Frozen II (2019) to be the number Disney is chasing. You can follow the film on the Frozen 3 page, and the Frozen 3 trailer page is where trailers will appear once they are released.
