Toy Story merchandise in 2026 spans five main films and one spin-off, so the range runs from characters first seen in Toy Story (1995), directed by John Lasseter, to the toys introduced in Toy Story 5 (2026), directed by Andrew Stanton. That is a long stretch, and it means a single shelf can hold a cowboy doll from the first film beside a frog-shaped tablet from the latest one.

The franchise is unusual because its subject is toys. Every main character is already a product inside the story, which makes the shopping question simpler than it is for most film series. Woody is a cowboy doll and Buzz Lightyear is a space ranger action figure, while Rex, Hamm, Mr. Potato Head and Slinky Dog round out the gang from the first film. As for Toy Story 6, no studio source has confirmed a release date, a greenlight or a production status, so there is no confirmed Toy Story 6 range to shop for, and anything labeled that way is unconfirmed. The latest confirmed release is Toy Story 5, which has grossed about $1.149 billion worldwide according to Box Office Mojo, and it is the film driving current merchandise.

The main Toy Story merchandise categories are figures and figurine sets, soft toys, clothes, role play toys and collector pieces, and the right one depends on who the gift is for. In my opinion, the easiest way to choose is to start with the age of the child or the fan, then pick the character, and only then look at price.

Figures and figurine sets. A Toy Story figurines set usually groups the core gang, and the most natural starter group is Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Rex and Hamm. Jessie joined in Toy Story 2 (1999), voiced by Joan Cusack, so a set with her in it covers the first two films neatly. If you want something for display, look for sets that include Bo Peep, who returns in Toy Story 4 (2019), directed by Josh Cooley.

Soft toys. Toy Story soft toys suit younger children best, and the friendliest picks are Rex, Hamm and Slinky Dog, who are simple shapes. Forky is the obvious favorite for the youngest fans, because in Toy Story 4 he is a toy Bonnie makes from a spork and craft supplies, and his homemade look suits a soft toy better than most figures. Check the age label on any soft toy with removable pieces.

Clothes. Toy Story clothes draw on a small set of recognizable looks, chiefly Woody's cowboy style and Buzz's space ranger suit. They work well for school days, parties and dress up. The official ratings give a rough guide to the audience: the first four films carry a G rating in the US, while Toy Story 5 and Lightyear are rated PG, so a pajama set built on the older films suits the youngest viewers.

Role play and character toys. Buzz is the usual pick here, since both the toy in the main films and the Lightyear hero give a child a space ranger to play. Collector pieces. For adult fans, the appeal is nostalgia and detail, and Mr. Potato Head, voiced by Don Rickles in the early films, and Duke Caboom, voiced by Keanu Reeves in Toy Story 4, are natural picks.
