Next Jack Ryan Movie: Ghost War Release Date, Cast and Status
The next Jack Ryan movie is Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War, starring John Krasinski, and it is already out: it premiered globally on Prime Video on May 20, 2026, with no theatrical run. As of November 3, 2026, no further Jack Ryan film has been announced, so Ghost War is both the newest film and the next one in the saga.
Is There a New Jack Ryan Movie on Prime Video?
Yes, there is a new Jack Ryan movie on Prime Video, and it is already out: Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War premiered on May 20, 2026, with no theatrical run. TheWrap reported the trailer and the date on March 17, 2026, and Variety reported on March 18 that Amazon MGM Studios distributes the film, with Paramount Pictures, Skydance Media, Genre Arts, Push Boot and Sunday Night Productions credited as production companies.
That makes Ghost War the latest film in the saga and the first one made for streaming. The five earlier films, starting with the hunt for red october in 1990 and ending with jack ryan shadow recruit in 2014, all played in theaters. Ghost War is a feature film, not an episode of the Prime Video series Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan (that show is television, and it also stars Krasinski), and he is reported as the lead.

Who Stars in the Next Jack Ryan Movie? Reported Cast and Crew
John Krasinski is reported as Jack Ryan in Ghost War, alongside Wendell Pierce as James Greer, Michael Kelly as Mike November and Betty Gabriel as Elizabeth Wright, according to Variety on March 18, 2026. Every name here comes from a trade outlet report, so it is written as reported rather than confirmed.
Variety also lists Mckenna Bridger, Max Beesley, Douglas Hodge and JJ Feild in the cast, and TheWrap names Sienna Miller. None of those reports names a character for these five.
Behind the camera, Variety reports Andrew Bernstein as director, with Aaron Rabin and John Krasinski as writers. TheWrap adds Noah Oppenheim as a writer, and lists Allyson Seeger, John Krasinski and Andrew Form as producers. That gives Krasinski three jobs on the film: star, writer and producer.
If the reports hold, Krasinski becomes the fifth actor to play Ryan in a feature film, after Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine. Greer was played by James Earl Jones in three earlier films, which you can trace on the james greer jack ryan page. For the full lineup, see jack ryan cast and jack ryan actors.

Will There Be Another Jack Ryan Movie? Rumors and Reports
No rumor of another Jack Ryan movie after Ghost War has been reported. As of November 3, 2026, Amazon MGM Studios has not announced a follow up, and no sequel, new director or release window has been announced or reported.
That matters when you read search results, because pages that promise a numbered sequel or a date for one are guessing. Until a studio or a trade paper puts a title, a date or a cast member on the record, a further film stays unconfirmed.
The same caution covers Krasinski's future in the role. Nothing in the coverage of Ghost War says he will return, and nothing says he will not.
What We Know About the Next Jack Ryan Movie After Ghost War
What is known is short and solid: one film, one confirmed US date of May 20, 2026, one platform and a reported cast led by John Krasinski, with nothing yet on a sequel. In my opinion, that is a cleaner position than the series has been in for years, because the question "what is the next Jack Ryan movie?" now has a one line answer.
The move to Prime Video is the real story. Shadow Recruit, the last theatrical film, earned the lowest worldwide total of the five films on a $60 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo (the full table is on the jack ryan box office page).
If you are new to all this, here is how I would approach it. Watch the five films first, in the order laid out on jack ryan movies in order, then check the jack ryan timeline to see how the stories connect. The jack ryan books vs movies page compares the screen versions with Tom Clancy's novels. Then press play on Ghost War.
For Ryan himself, the jack ryan character page tracks all four film actors, and jack ryan characters covers the supporting players.
