New Hannibal Movie Trailer: Trailers for Every Hannibal Lecter Film

There is no new Hannibal movie trailer yet, because no new Hannibal Lecter film has been officially announced, so the trailers to watch belong to the five existing films, from Manhunter (1986) to Hannibal Rising (2007). Manhunter also returned in 2026 as Manhunter: The Final Cut, a re-release through Rialto Pictures.

New Hannibal Movie Trailer: What Exists and What Does Not

A new Hannibal movie trailer does not exist, because no studio or trade source has announced a dated or greenlit Hannibal Lecter film. A rumor reported on January 30, 2025 by CBR, citing the insider Daniel Richtman, says Universal is developing one, with no filmmakers or cast attached and no word on whether Anthony Hopkins would return. Universal had not commented, so the item stays unconfirmed. For the latest status, see the new hannibal movie page.

The trailers that do exist belong to the five theatrical films in the hannibal movies saga, and they follow release order below, with who is in each film, who directed it and what the story sets up. If you would rather watch in story order, the hannibal movies in order guide has both sequences.

Manhunter (1986). Manhunter 1986 was directed by Michael Mann and stars William L. Petersen as retired FBI profiler Will Graham, with Brian Cox as Dr. Hannibal Lecktor and Tom Noonan as Francis Dollarhyde. It is the earliest adaptation of the story later retold in Red Dragon, and it ran 120 minutes. It returned in 2026 as Manhunter: The Final Cut, a re-release through Rialto Pictures, which is a new cut of an existing film rather than a new story.

The Silence of the Lambs (1991). The Silence of the Lambs was directed by Jonathan Demme and stars Jodie Foster as FBI trainee Clarice Starling and Anthony Hopkins as Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Its setup is Starling's interviews with a jailed psychiatrist while the FBI hunts Buffalo Bill. It ran 119 minutes and earned $273 million worldwide on a $19 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.

Hannibal (2001). Hannibal 2001 is the sequel directed by Ridley Scott, with Hopkins returning opposite Julianne Moore as Starling and Gary Oldman as Mason Verger. It follows Lecter in Florence a decade after the Buffalo Bill case. Searches for the Hannibal (2001) trailer turn up plenty of regional uploads, such as the German language version, along with TV spots, so check that the upload comes from an official channel. The film runs 131 minutes and earned about $352 million worldwide on an $87 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.

Red Dragon (2002). Red Dragon 2002 was directed by Brett Ratner and stars Edward Norton as Will Graham, Hopkins as Lecter and Ralph Fiennes as Francis Dolarhyde. It is set before The Silence of the Lambs and retells the story Manhunter had already filmed. It runs 124 minutes and earned $209 million worldwide on a $78 million budget.

Hannibal Rising (2007). Hannibal Rising was directed by Peter Webber and stars Gaspard Ulliel as the young Lecter, with Gong Li as Lady Murasaki. The story opens in 1944 Lithuania and later follows Hannibal to Paris, where he goes to find his aunt, Lady Murasaki. It is the last Lecter film to date, and it ran 121 minutes. Is it a good movie? That is a matter of taste, and our verdict will sit on the hannibal reviews page. As a matter of record, it earned $82 million worldwide on a $50 million budget.

What about the television trailers? The NBC series Hannibal, developed by Bryan Fuller and starring Mads Mikkelsen as Lecter, and the CBS series Clarice are television, not films. A search for a Hannibal trailer for season 1 will surface the NBC show rather than any film above, and the hannibal tv series page goes into the show. For the people behind each film, see the hannibal cast page.
