New Insidious Movie: Out of the Further and What Comes Next

There she learns she is a courier, someone who can move objects between the Further and the real world.

The firm facts are short: Out of the Further is the latest film, it is released, and nothing after it is announced. In my opinion, that makes it either a reasonable stopping point or a reasonable launch pad, depending on what Sony decides.

The last two films took opposite routes. The Red Door (2023) brought back the Lambert family, with Patrick Wilson directing and Ty Simpkins and Rose Byrne returning, and so it closed a loop that started with Insidious (2011). Out of the Further goes the other way, with a new family in Gemma and Maya Hall, a new idea in the courier, and Lin Shaye's Elise as the link to what came before. It could be argued that the courier gives writers an obvious route into a seventh story, since a character who carries objects between worlds can be sent almost anywhere. That is my reading of the premise and not a report from the studio.

The series has also changed hands more than most. James Wan directed Insidious (2011) and Chapter 2, Leigh Whannell directed Chapter 3, Adam Robitel directed The Last Key, Patrick Wilson directed The Red Door, and Jacob Chase directed Out of the Further.
