Saw 11: Release Date, Cast and Latest Update
Saw 11 has no release date and no confirmed cast, but it is a real project: Lionsgate and Blumhouse Atomic Monster announced the next Saw film on September 24, 2026, with Mike P. Nelson directing. Its status is announced and in development, and no filming start has been reported.
Is Saw 11 Ever Going to Come Out?
Saw 11 is announced and in development, but it has no release date. On September 24, 2026, Lionsgate and Blumhouse Atomic Monster named Mike P. Nelson as director of the next Saw film, according to TheWrap. That report calls the film Saw 11, and the official title has not been confirmed, so Saw XI is the working name in the data.
The announcement also named the writers, Gregory Weidman and Geoff Tock, and three producers: James Wan, Jason Blum and Leigh Whannell. Wan directed the original Saw (2004) on a $1.2 million budget, and Whannell starred in it as Adam, so their return as producers ties the new film back to the start of the Saw movies. The report gives no filming start, no composer and no cast.
The film follows Saw X (2023), directed by Kevin Greutert, which is the most recent main entry in the series. If you want to catch up before the next film arrives, the Saw movies in order page lays out both viewing orders.
Saw 11 Cast: Will Tobin Bell Be in It?
No cast has been confirmed for Saw 11, including Tobin Bell. The studio announcement named a director, writers and producers, and it listed no actors.
That leaves the Bell question open. Bell plays John Kramer, the Jigsaw killer, and he is billed in every main saga film from Saw (2004) through Saw X, where he is the lead. Saw X is set between Saw (2004) and Saw II, and the filmmakers decided not to de-age Bell or Shawnee Smith, who plays Amanda Young and also appears in that film.
Whether either of them returns for the next film is not known, and any cast list online right now is a guess or a fan creation. The only confirmed names are behind the camera: Nelson, Weidman, Tock, Wan, Blum and Whannell. For the full list of past actors, see the Saw cast page.
Why Did Saw 11 Get Canceled? Rumors and Reports
Saw 11 has not been canceled, though it is easy to see where the idea came from. After the earlier release dates were reported as dropped from the schedule, talk of a cancellation spread through 2025, mostly on outlets that are not trade papers. The Nelson announcement in September 2026 overtook that talk.
Reports from 2025 also described Blumhouse acquiring the Twisted Pictures stake in the franchise. Only the headlines were read, so that deal is unconfirmed, and no studio has said what it means for the schedule.
Fan made trailers for Saw XI circulate in search results and on video sites. They are fan creations and not studio material, and the Saw 11 trailer page covers what has actually been released. Anything labeled a rumor or a report stays unconfirmed until a studio or trade paper says otherwise.
What We Know About Saw 11 So Far
The short version is that Saw 11 is further along than it was a year ago and still far from a release. In my opinion, the most telling detail is the producer list: Wan directed the first film and Whannell starred in it, and Blum's Blumhouse Atomic Monster is now announcing the series alongside Lionsgate.
Mike P. Nelson is the other interesting piece. He is a new name for the series, whose recent directors include Kevin Greutert (on Saw VI, Saw 3D and Saw X), Darren Lynn Bousman on Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021) and the Spierig brothers on Jigsaw (2017). It could be argued that a fresh director is a sign the studio wants the next film to feel distinct, though nothing in the announcement says so.
The commercial case is plain enough. Saw X cost $13 million and took in about $125 million worldwide, according to The Numbers, which in my view is the kind of return that explains why the series keeps coming back. For the figures on every film, see the Saw box office page.
