Who Is Eve in Underworld?
Eve is the hybrid daughter of Selene and Michael Corvin, and India Eisley plays her in Underworld: Awakening (2012), directed by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein. Eisley is billed fifth in the cast, behind Kate Beckinsale as Selene, Stephen Rea as Dr. Jacob Lane, Michael Ealy as Detective Sebastian and Theo James as David. Eve's Story Arc Across the FilmsSpoilers
Eve's arc runs through two films: she is a captive and a prize in Awakening, and in Blood Wars she is the missing person that two armies are trying to find. The earlier films set up why she matters. In underworld 2003, the Lycan scientist Singe explains that Michael descends from a common ancestor of both races and could become a hybrid of the two. In underworld evolution, the first immortal, Alexander Corvinus, is named as the father of Markus and William, and Michael wakes in full hybrid form. In underworld awakening, the public has learned that vampires and Lycans exist, and a human program to study them becomes a mass extermination called the Purge. Selene and Michael are captured and Selene is frozen. About twelve years later she breaks out of the facility and takes a young girl with her, who is revealed to be Eve. David, a vampire, takes them to his coven. Lycans attack, and Selene fights a huge Super-Lycan called Quint. Selene and Detective Sebastian then trace the Lycans to Antigen, a company run by Lycans posing as humans, whose head, Dr. Jacob Lane, wants Eve's DNA to strengthen the Lycan race. During the raid on the Antigen building, Eve kills Lane.
In underworld blood wars, the Lycans under Marius want Selene's help finding Eve, because her blood could let Marius build an army of vampire and Lycan hybrids. Selene, meanwhile, has hidden her own knowledge of where Eve is in order to protect her. The film ends with Selene reunited with Eve.
Eve's Relationships: Selene, Michael, David and the Lycans
Eve's closest bond is with Selene, and the plot of both films she appears in is driven by the link between the two. Selene is the vampire Death Dealer who wakes from suspension to find that she has a daughter, and from that point her choices in Awakening and Blood Wars are made around protecting her. Michael Corvin is her father. In Awakening, Selene finds Michael in a cryogenic tank at Antigen and frees him, then has to leave him as he thaws so she can stop the Lycans from taking Eve. David, played by Theo James, is the young vampire who shelters Selene and Eve, and his father Thomas, played by Charles Dance, gave Eve to the Lycans in an attempt to stop the attack on the coven. Dr. Jacob Lane is the main antagonist around her in Awakening, and Marius is the one who hunts her in Blood Wars. What Happens to Eve? Her Fate at the End of Blood WarsSpoilers
Eve is alive at the end of the last released film, and she is reunited with Selene. In Blood Wars, Marius learns that Selene does not know where Eve is and calls off the Lycan attack on the Nordic Coven, and later Selene destroys him after a drop of his blood gives her his memories. After Marius dies, the Lycans retreat, and Selene, David and Lena become the new Elders of the coven. Eve finds Selene through their telepathic link, and Selene had hidden her own knowledge of where Eve was in order to protect her.
As for her status, no film has shown her death. She is a surviving hybrid in a world where the vampire and Lycan conflict is only paused. The series has not had a sixth film since Blood Wars in 2017: the underworld 6 page tracks what is known, and no studio, distributor or trade source has given a title, cast, release date or production start for a new film. Any future story about Eve would be speculation until a studio says otherwise.
Eve's Best Moments in Underworld
In my opinion, Eve's best moment is the kill that ends Dr. Lane's plan in Awakening, because it shows the Lycans misjudged what they were holding. Lane runs a company built to get at her DNA, and the film lets the girl he treats as a resource be the one to end him. It is a small, quick beat in an 88 minute film, but it reverses who is the hunter, and that is the kind of creature rule I like: the thing everyone wants to use is not helpless.
My second pick is the moment Thomas gives Eve to the Lycans. It is a cold bit of vampire politics, David's father handing over a child in an attempt to stop the attack on the coven. It could be argued that it also makes Eve a character the plot moves around, and in a series known for its long-lived elders, the youngest person on screen is the one everyone is bargaining over.
Third, I would point to the reunion at the end of Blood Wars. The film is mostly about Selene's fight with Marius, but the closing beat pays off Selene hiding what she knew about where Eve was, and Eve finding her mother through their telepathic link. That being said, it only lands because Eve has been the stake of the story since Awakening.
