Storm X-Men: Ororo Munroe, Her Powers and Who Plays Her

Storm is Ororo Munroe, a mutant who fights beside Professor Xavier's X-Men, and the films credit her as "Storm" or "Ororo Munroe / Storm". Halle Berry plays her in x men 2000, directed by Bryan Singer, then in x2 x men united (2003), x men the last stand (2006) and x men days of future past (2014). Alexandra Shipp plays the younger Storm in x men apocalypse (2016) and dark phoenix (2019). That makes six main saga films, split between the original cast and the younger cast.

What is Storm's mutant power? The clearest use on screen comes in X2, when she creates a snowstorm inside the Cerebro chamber to break the hold on Xavier. Our x men powers page sets her next to the rest of the team.

Is Storm an Omega level mutant? Omega level is a comics label for the very strongest mutants, and none of the film plots here apply it to her. In my opinion, the snowstorm in X2 is the nearest the films come to showing that scale of control, though it is a judgment from the screen and not an official ranking.

Is Storm African or Egyptian? The films' plots link her to Egypt only through Apocalypse, who recruits her in 1983 along with Psylocke and Angel. Xavier's former students later launch a rescue at his base in Cairo, where she and Magneto turn on him.

Did Storm marry Black Panther? Not in these films. Black Panther does not appear in any of the Fox X-Men films, and Storm does not marry anyone in them. That pairing belongs to the comics, not to the Fox saga.

She appears alongside most of the team on the x men characters page, including wolverine x men, cyclops x men and jean gray. For the full list of who played whom, see x men cast.

Storm's closest ties are with the founding team, with Cyclops and Jean Grey the most visible in the films. She and Cyclops save Logan and Rogue together in X-Men (2000), and she and Jean rescue the group in Boston in X2. Both are lost in the trilogy, and their absence is what puts Storm in charge of the school in The Last Stand.

She is one of professor x's X-Men, and in X2 she is the one who frees his mind in the Cerebro chamber. In The Last Stand she takes over the school after he is lost in the struggle with Jean. With wolverine x men, she shares the early scenes of the original film and the rescue in Boston, and rogue x men stays on as a student at the school at the end of The Last Stand.

Her relationship with magneto shifts between films. Magneto saves the X-Men in X2, then leads the Brotherhood against them in The Last Stand. In Apocalypse, Storm and Magneto turn on Apocalypse together, though he had recruited them both.

Did Wolverine have a child with Storm? No film shows it. The child in Logan (2017) is Laura, who was grown in a lab from mutant DNA and is effectively Logan's daughter.

In the younger timeline, Ororo's teammates are Scott Summers, Jean Grey, Kurt Wagner and Peter Maximoff, trained by Hank McCoy (beast x men) and Raven (mystique x men).

In my opinion, Storm's best moment is the snowstorm in the Cerebro chamber in X2, because it is a practical, character driven use of her power rather than a pure spectacle. She does not blast an enemy. She changes the weather inside a room to break a hold on Xavier, and it saves him. It could be argued that this single scene is the strongest showcase of her power in the original trilogy.

My second pick is the X-Jet rescue in Boston, also in X2. Storm and Jean arrive just as the police turn on Wolverine and the students, and the scene shows the X-Men working as a team under pressure. The jet is shot down soon after, which keeps the rescue from feeling too easy.

Third, I would choose the moment in The Last Stand when Storm takes charge. Halle Berry's billing rises to second in that film, and Storm has to hold a shaken team together after the losses of Cyclops, Jean and Xavier. Paradoxically, it is a quieter role than her X2 heroics, but it is the one that gives her a lasting place in the story, since she ends the film running the school.

On the younger side, Alexandra Shipp's best moment is the turn against Apocalypse alongside Magneto in Cairo. That being said, the younger cast gets less room than Berry did. If you want the best of Storm, start with x2 x men united and then work through x men movies in order.
