All three Divergent films can be watched legally in the US, the UK and Australia, but the service that carries them differs sharply by country. The availability below comes from JustWatch data published through TMDB and was checked on November 3, 2026. Streaming catalogs change often, so a film that sits on one service today may leave it next month. The films are Divergent (2014), directed by Neil Burger, then Insurgent (2015) and Allegiant (2016), both directed by Robert Schwentke. If you are starting from scratch, the Divergent movies in order page sets out which one to press play on first.
United States. Where to watch Divergent in the US comes down to the MovieSphere+ Amazon Channel, which carries all three films as a subscription title, or to renting and buying. Amazon Video, Apple TV, Google Play Movies, YouTube and Fandango At Home offer each film for rent or purchase, and Plex offers each one as a rental only. HBO Max, Peacock, Netflix, the Roku Channel and Philo are not among the US services for any of the three films.
United Kingdom. The UK has the widest choice of subscription services. HBO Max, the HBO Max Amazon Channel and Now TV Cinema carry Divergent (2014) and Insurgent, while Allegiant is on HBO Max and the HBO Max Amazon Channel but not Now TV Cinema. YouTube Free carries all three films with ads. For rent or purchase, there are Apple TV, Rakuten TV, Amazon Video, Sky Store and YouTube. BBC iPlayer, Netflix and Disney Plus do not carry any of the three.
Australia. Australia is the simplest market, because every film streams on Paramount Plus (including its Premium and Basic with Ads tiers) and on Stan. The Paramount+ Amazon Channel and the Lionsgate+ Amazon Channel also carry all three films. To rent or buy, Apple TV, Amazon Video, YouTube and Fetch TV carry each title. Netflix and Disney Plus do not carry them in Australia either.
What do the access types mean? A subscription title is included in the price of a service you already pay for, an ads title is free with advertising, and rent and buy titles charge per film. In the US, a viewer without the MovieSphere+ Amazon Channel will in practice be renting or buying, and since the same stores carry all three films, the choice usually turns on which app you already use.
Does it matter which film you start with, and why do the services treat them alike? Mostly the films travel as a set, because the story runs straight through them: Tris leaves Abnegation for Dauntless in Divergent (2014), is hunted by Jeanine Matthews in Insurgent, and crosses the wall in Allegiant. In my opinion, the one gap that matters is Allegiant missing from Now TV Cinema in the UK, since a viewer on that service would reach the third film and find the chain broken. The films also differ in feel behind the scenes. Neil Burger directed the first on an $85 million budget, and Robert Schwentke took over for the two sequels, each on $110 million, with Burger staying on Insurgent as an executive producer. The score changed hands too: Tom Holkenborg scored Divergent (2014), then Joseph Trapanese took over for Insurgent and Allegiant. Insurgent is the only one with a named soundtrack album, which includes Woodkid and Lykke Li's "Never Let You Down" and Imagine Dragons' "Warriors".
Running times are 140 minutes for Divergent (2014), 119 for Insurgent and 120 for Allegiant, so a full marathon is just under six and a half hours. The box office trend explains why there are only three films to find. Divergent (2014) earned $289 million worldwide, Insurgent $297 million and Allegiant $179 million, according to Box Office Mojo, and the fall for the third film is what led the planned fourth film, Ascendant, to be moved to a TV movie, as Slashfilm reported in July 2016. According to Entertainment Weekly in October 2023, Lionsgate's plans for a final film were scrapped, and Veronica Roth has said Ascendant will never be made. As of November 3, 2026, no new Divergent film has been officially announced or dated. Roth's new novel, The Sixth Faction, was due on October 6, 2026, with a second book due in February 2027, according to Cinefilos. Any film adaptation of those books is speculation for now, and the Divergent Ascendant page tracks the status.
If you want to know what you are about to watch, the Divergent movies hub covers every film, and the pages for Divergent 2014, the Insurgent movie and the Allegiant movie cover each one in turn. The Divergent books vs movies page is the better stop if you are weighing the films against Roth's novels before you rent.
