Step Up 6: Release Date, Cast and Status

Step Up 6 has no release date, cast or title, because no new Step Up movie has been announced as of November 3, 2026. The most recent main series film is Step Up: All In (2014), directed by Trish Sie, and the series Step Up: High Water is television, not a film.

Step Up 6 Release Date: Is There One?

Market	Release	Source
US	TBCtbc	thewrap.com
UK	TBCtbc	thewrap.com
AU	TBCtbc	thewrap.com

There is no Step Up 6 release date in the US, the UK or Australia, and no official source has reported one. All three markets are to be confirmed, and no date has moved, because none was ever set.

For context, the last film opened on three different dates. Step Up: All In reached US theaters on August 8, 2014, according to Box Office Mojo, the UK on August 1, 2014 and Australia on August 18, 2014, according to TMDB (all three dates are reported rather than studio confirmed). Those are the only dates attached to the most recent installment, and they say nothing about a successor.

A date for a sixth film counts as confirmed only once Lionsgate or a major trade outlet publishes it. Until then, any calendar entry for Step Up 6 or Step Up 7 on a fan site is a guess. If a trailer ever appears, you will find it on the Step Up 6 trailer page.

Is Step Up 6 Happening?

Step Up 6 is unannounced: no studio, distributor or trade report announces a new Step Up film, so there is no release calendar entry for one. The last main series film remains Step Up: All In, released in the US on August 8, 2014, and directed by Trish Sie. That makes it the fifth film after Step Up (2006), Step Up 2: The Streets, Step Up 3D and Step Up Revolution.

If you have been searching for "is Step Up 6 coming out", the plain answer is no: neither Lionsgate nor a trade outlet has announced one. An announcement could still arrive, but until Lionsgate or a trade outlet says so, Step Up 6 should be treated as unannounced.

Is Step Up 5 the last one? Step Up: All In is the most recent main series film, and no sixth film has been announced after it. One later title does exist: Step Up: Year of the Dance (2019), a Chinese-produced spin-off. It is not part of the five main series films and does not change the numbering, so it is not Step Up 6. Television is the other place the name has kept moving: TheWrap reported in May 2020 that the series Step Up: High Water moved from YouTube to Starz. It is a TV series, so it is not a Step Up film and does not count toward the numbering.

If you want to catch up before any news arrives, the Step Up movies in order guide lists all five films, and the Step Up movies hub has the full overview.

Who Is Cast in Step Up 6?

Nobody is confirmed for Step Up 6, because there is no announced film to cast. No actor, director, writer or crew member has been attached by the studio or a trade outlet.

That means any cast list you see online is speculation, and at best it should be read as reported, never as confirmed. For reference, the last film's lead cast was Briana Evigan as Andie West and Ryan Guzman as Sean Asa, with Stephen 'tWitch' Boss, Misha Gabriel, Alyson Stoner as Camille Gage and Adam Sevani as Moose in support. Trish Sie directed Step Up: All In, but appearing in that film is not a sign that any of them will return.

What about Channing Tatum, who played Tyler Gage in Step Up (2006) and again in Step Up 2: The Streets? No source attaches him to a new film. To see who has appeared across the saga, the Step Up cast page lists the full ensemble, and the Step Up characters page covers the roles, including Moose and Sean.

Step Up 6 and Step Up 7 Rumors: What Is Reported?

There are no sourced Step Up 6 or Step Up 7 rumors to report at the moment. A claim about a title, cast or date only counts as a rumor once a named publisher stands behind it.

If a trade outlet does report one, we will label it a rumor, with its publisher and status, until Lionsgate says otherwise.

What We Know So Far: Will There Be Another Step Up Movie?

What we know is short: the main series has had no new film since 2014, no new film is announced, and the only Step Up news reported by TheWrap concerns television. Whether there will ever be another Step Up movie is an open question, and it could be argued that the numbers give both sides something to point to.

The case for a return starts with the early returns. Step Up (2006) earned about $114 million worldwide on a $12 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo, and Step Up 3D took about $159 million worldwide on $30 million, the best total of the five. Step Up Revolution reached about $140 million on $33 million. The case against sits in the last entry: Step Up: All In grossed about $86 million worldwide and only about $15 million in the US, the lowest of the five at the box office, and no budget is listed for it. Those figures suggest the franchise shrank domestically while holding up abroad. You can compare them all on our Step Up box office page.

The release pattern matters too. The first five films arrived in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014, roughly every two years, and no main series film has followed since. In my opinion, that gap is the strongest sign that a sixth film is not close, though a long gap is not a cancellation, and the television series shows the brand is still alive.

My practical advice is to treat every Step Up 6 date as unconfirmed until Lionsgate or a trade paper publishes it. In the meantime, the Step Up movies ranked page is a good place to decide which film to rewatch, and the Step Up dance crews page is a fun way back into the series.

No Step Up 6 has been announced. Neither Lionsgate nor any trade outlet has reported a new Step Up film, so there is no confirmed release date, cast or director.

Is there a Step Up 6 coming out?

There is no Step Up 6 on any official release calendar. The most recent main series film is Step Up: All In, which opened in the US on August 8, 2014.

Is there a Step Up 7?

No. Step Up 7 has not been announced either, and there is no announced Step Up 6 for it to follow. Any release date for Step Up 7 is unsourced.

Is Step Up 5 the last one?

Step Up: All In (2014) is the fifth and most recent main series film, and no sixth film has been announced after it. The Chinese-produced spin-off Step Up: Year of the Dance (2019) came later but is not a main series entry.

Is there ever going to be another Step Up movie?

Nothing is announced, so nobody can say yet. The series did continue on television with Step Up: High Water, which TheWrap reported moved from YouTube to Starz in May 2020. A new film would need an announcement from Lionsgate or a trade outlet to count as real.

Is Step Up: High Water a Step Up movie?
